Welcome to the Vishnu Sahasra Nama blog.
The idea of this blog is to create a series of pages on the great Hindu Stotra – The Vishnu Sahasra Nama – The Thousand Names of Vishnu.
This blog will contain a number of pages on the Stotra, all of which can be searcheable. Further, the random page link on the right will help readers read random pages on this blog – A great way to learn about one or more names of Vishnu.
The source for this blog is the book “Vishnu Sahasra Nama” edited by Sri Sagri Raghavendra Upadhyaya and published by Paravidya Prakashana. The book is a print form of the excellent lecture series delivered by Sri Sri Vishwa Priya Theertha Swamiji of Adamaru Mutt, Udupi, Karnataka, India. The lecture series, in Kannada, is an outstanding explanation of the thousand names of the Lord by his holiness the Swamiji. Sri Swamiji has given some amazing, non common, explanations to many of the names. I am sure the readers of this blog will benefit from this.
Further, as Sri Sri Swamiji has clearly mentioned, the meanings mentioned by him are one of many. The aim is to provide at least one meaning for each name that is of most relevance to our daily lives. It is sufficient to understand that there are many more meanings for each name. In fact, Sri Madhvacharya has revealed that there are at a minimum, at least 100 meanings for every name in the Vishnu Sahasra Nama.
Another reference book for this project is “Vishnu Sahasranama – By Dr. Aralumallige Parthasarathy”, published by Vishnu Sahasranama Trust, Bangalore.
This blog is a work in progress, and is expected to take a LONG time to complete. I hope you do not get disapppointed and do come back and visit often.

If the audio clips are available on the net, I would be happy to post links to those sites. Hosting copyrighted audio clips would be inappropriate, IMO.

After I happened to listen the audio of vishnu sahasara nama by Sri Vishwapriya theertha swamiji my life has changed. Now iam an ardent fan of him. I like the way he uses his wit when he wants to comment in english.Sad part is that i was able to listen to 700 vishu namas explanations, my friend who gave me the cds does not have the rest of them. Kindly tell me how to access the rest of them. Also please keep us notified of the rest of the Discourses that are available.

Can you please let me know where is Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, Kamdhenu, Magadi Road. I watched TV where Mr. Parthasarathy said this is a mutt with Raghavendra Sloka books made as Brindhavana.
