Devanagari

Pronunciation guide:

sarvah-sharvah-shiva-shthaanur-bhoothaadir-nidhira-vyaya-ha |

sambhavO-bhaavanO-bhartaa-prabhavah-prabhu-reeshwaraha ||

Name: Sharvaha

Pronunciation:

shar-va-ha

shar (as in sherpa), va (as in vase), ha (as in hard)

Meaning:

One who consumes all the lives in the Universe.

Notes:

Sharva is one of the names given to Rudra (by Vishnu). It is through Rudra that Vishnu performs the destruction of the Universe during Pralaya. Since Vishnu consumes even Sharva (Rudra), HE is called as Sharva himself.

Even in the Mahabharata, Krishna consumes the 18 akshouhinis of the Pandavas and Kauravas and reduces the “burden” on the earth. Hence HE is truly Sharva.

Worshipping Vishnu with this name will lead to the destruction of those who oppose us (in our sincere pursuits).

Namavali:

Om Sharvaaya Namaha Om
