Name: Amara Prabhuhu

Pronunciation:

a-ma-ra-pra-bhu-hu

a, ma (me in mercy), ra (as in run), pra (pr in proxy), bhu, hu (who)

Meaning:

One who is the lord of the immortals

Notes:

‘mara’ means those who undergo death. ‘amara’ means the immortal ones. This immortality is not forever. It is just that they do not undergo the continuous cycle of birth and death like ordinary humans. During Pralaya, Vishnu spares none of these devatas. ¬†Hence, it is HIS grace alone which ensures these amaras live a long time. Therefore, HE is the ‘prabhu’ or lord of amaras.

Namavali:

Om Amaraprabhave Namaha Om
