One who ‘destroys’ well
Tardana means destruction (mardana). Pratardana stands for one who does the job of destruction very well. Vishnu, at all times, has chosen the most appropriate and deserving method of bringing an end to people. When it was time for Vali to be killed, Sri Rama ensured that he did not suffer an insulting death. On the other hand, for Duryodhana, multiple insults were heaped on him throughout his life (through defeats) and finally he died a coward’s death. HE gives an ‘end’ that is perfectly matching with the ‘yogyata’ of the person.
